"Pro", short for "professional" is defined as making money to do something, in this case to play Halo. The only Halo oriented gaming leagues that have cash prizes are for teams of four.  Clans cannot compete at MLG events or at any other competitive gaming league function making it impossible for a clan to be considered pro since you have to compete in order to win money.

I'm going to be honest here: every clan I've ever heard of is mostly filled with bad kids, anyone who's good knows that clans don't go anywhere (there are no competitive gaming leagues for them to compete in) and so they look for a team of four people.  However, lots of clans advertise that they're "pro" in order to trick fellow noobs who have no clue about what "pro" means (if they did, they'd know that the people advertising the clan are lying) into joining.

How about you know what your talking about before you open your mouth?

EDIT: Wow, I just looked at the "Optic Nation"' website: they play MW2. Massive facepalm.

You can have Pro Clans, they're just Clans made up of Pro players. (My Halo 2 clan began as a Pro-Only clan that included Halo 2's Final Boss (Walshy, OGRE 1, OGRE2 and StrongSide) and became a hybrid clan for Pros and Amateurs aiming for the Pros. I joined at the hybrid point.)
While MLG TEAMS are meant to be Teams of 4, there is also Doubles and FFA you can compete it. Being in a clan doesn't mean you do not face each other, so you could make multiple teams of your clan Pros and compete against each other but train together.

Just because a clan has a pro player (which I have never heard of and am a little skeptical of) doesn't make it a "pro clan". Once again, for a clan to be considered "pro" the ENTIRE CLAN needs to be paid to play Halo for competing AS A GROUP. I can't be considered a member of a pro basketball team because I have an NBA player playing on my rec squad. Same thing goes here. Halo clans have no tournament or league to compete in which pays cash prizes and as a result, it's impossible for them to be considered "pro".  A clan with a pro player is merely that, a clan with a pro player. The entire clan is not considered "pro" because of one member.
