Improving Haloforever
« on: November 06, 2010, 12:02:41 AM »
Derek, Justin, and GE.

I have already posted brief walkthroughs of most of the Halo Reach maps in the "map tips and tricks" section. (I could not find a decent Pinnacle one, if you find it please post it!!!

Here is a brief list of things we should do to encourage potential new members to stick around.

1. Post. The more active this forum is, the more likely a new person will be to stick around.
2. Share. Videos of walk throughs to help the n00bs out.
3. Submit. Gameplay from professional and average gamers on maps for people to watch.
4. Critique. Watch the gameplay you share and comment on what the player did right, and wrong.

Thank you.

(GE. We are going to need your help to pull this off....starting a thread asking people to post their tips and tricks is great, but we will need videos, and advice from you as well.)

I can get some decent gameplays both from myself and my friends. Do you still have your cap card Cody? We can make a Haloforever YouTube account and upload them and we can cap member gameplays and critique them.

The whole key is to have information and resources for the BKs to improve. They see this site and leave because they realize that their isn't much here to help them.

agreed. I just sent a personal email to the 6 most recent members explaining who I was and why they should become active in this community.

I do have my cap card. Its back in Michigan though, but I'll be going home in a couple weeks so i can get it then.

I also posted in Bungie's flood forums. Maybe that'll help advertise a little??

Today, I texted Brennan, and PM'd Jaz on facebook. We'll see if they respond....

We still need to discuss how we want to revitalize the forum....
I see a few possibilities:
-Select a specific date, and delete every thread before that date.
-Remove all non tip/trick related threads from the forum. Consolidate tips and tricks into one thread.
-Make an archive, or hidden forum to "remove" all out dated threads from sight.

What do you all think?

I like your idea of a hidden archive or forum. That way, we're not losing our position on the Google search results but we remove a lot of the clutter. For example, there are many threads and sub forums that are irrelevant now.

However, I don't think putting all of the tip/trick threads together could work. Once we start getting members and people begin to develop Reach gameplay, (setups, strats, hiding spots, etc.) there will be way too much information that will all get buried ten tricks/tips later

I meant for the Halo 3 section, combining all the tips this forum has for each map into a single post.

Yes, agreed on the Halo 3 section. I need to condense and compact that. Have it less cluttered I agree. Let me deal with that over the next couple of days.

Great idea on a Youtube account. Let me set that up.

Cool ideas guys. Thanks for all your help.

Yes! Make our own channel with good gameplay and tips. Tons of people will come to our site through YouTube.

Is the best way for me to just give you guys the password to the account and upload whatever you like? Not sure if there is a better/easier way of making that happen for getting vids up there.
