Michigan Tech Halo Reach Tournament
« on: November 14, 2010, 07:11:28 PM »
Hey guys!

This weekend I went to Michigan Tech to see my friend Msquared 4 life (Matt). His campus was hosting a 2v2 Halo Reach tournament that Matt invited me to come play in...
There were 12 teams that played, and we were split into 4 divisions.
Results:

1st game: Matt backpacked me FTW, putting up 13 out of 15 possible kills. (I always have "the first tee jitters" Any idea how I can manage that?)

2nd game: We won. I don't remember stats for it though, I believe I carried this game.
(First two games were for our seeding in our divison. We won 1st seed.)

Round 1: bye.

Round 2: Played Countdown slayer pro. First to 30 kills. Matt and I got an early lead of 7-1 but got lazy and they took the lead later at 18-17. We traded a few kills til they got to 22, then we went on a 9-0 run to win 30-22.

Round 3: Played Asylum slayer pro in the finals. Malone started off hot with a killing frenzy. Then proceeded to cool down a little. Ultimately going +15. I ended with -5 and 7 assists. This made the final score 50-40.

We won 50 dollars each for first place! It was a lot of fun!! The finals game was odd though, I felt I was playing very well, but my stats don't show it. And Matt thought we were around the same K/D but the stats don't show it. I wish I could show you all this gameplay for critiquing and review, but I can't :(

Nice job in the tournament. As for the jitters, you could try developing a quick routine for the first few seconds of the game. For example, beat down, switch weapons, crouch jump etc. whatever helps you get a little more into the game. Jitters usually comes from realizing this isn't just a normal game, but once you get absorbed into the game, the crowd vanishes and the Halo instincts come out.

You could also try a bunch of warm up games before you leave to the tournament, that way you're near the top of your game when you start, not warming up.
