Well, I've done 3 months in Europe. Hard to say much was better than that for me. Touring Normandy was pretty incredible, Greece, etc. So yeah, my great travelling experience was Europe. Who can top that?

the most fun vacation i have ever been on was probably to Panama City Beach, FL.   It is only 2 hours away...but it is the best time you will ever have

One tip, don't bother with travellers cheques. An extra hassle you don't need. If you are off season you might consider not doing the hostel thing. I did not like the hostels especially in Spain. You can sometimes negotiate a deal at a discount hotel. In Paris we found a really cheap hotel and we had free continental which was enough until dinner. What countries you going to?
