Siran Stacy b. August 6, 1968 is a former American football running back in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Canadian Football League running back for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and an NFL Europe running back for the Scottish Claymores (1995-97, 2000).
Stacy was a football letterman at the University of Alabama from 1989-91, who joined the Crimson Tide after spending two seasons at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College. He was a two-year starter and two-time All-SEC performer in 1989 and 1991. During his Alabama career, he had 429 rushing attempts for 2,113 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also had 62 pass receptions for 574 yards, one touchdown and 2,787 all-purpose yards.
He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1992 NFL Draft with their first pick (48th pick overall, in the second round). Stacy played for the Eagles that season, seeing action in one game.
Arguably the Scottish Claymores greatest-ever player, Stacy set team rushing records and helped them win the 1996 World Bowl. He played for three seasons between 1995-97 and rushed for a record 2350 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 1999.
After leaving the Claymores, Stacy began living a life based on Christian values. Siran, wife Ellen, and children were regular church attendees and frequently traveled from the Dothan area to the Destin, FL area to attend worship services and to fellowship. The family was baptized together at Henderson State Park beach.
On November 19, 2007, he and his family were involved in a vehicle accident on US Highway 84 in the town of Wicksburg, AL, six miles west of Dothan. The wreck resulted in the death of his wife and four of their five children, as well as the driver of the other vehicle. Siran Stacy is in a Dothan, AL hospital in "guarded" condition. His surviving child, a 3-year-old girl, was hospitalized in Birmingham, AL. The driver of the other vehicle was driving the wrong way and hit Stacy's vehicle on the passenger side. Alcohol is thought to have been involved in the crash.
Victims include Ellen Stacy 36, Bronson Stacy 10, and Ellie Stacy 2 who are all from Newton, Al. Laquisa Stacy 18 and her sister Sydney Stacy 9, who were from Hartford, Al.
