Yay, today I was stuck in an elevator!
« on: April 21, 2008, 01:52:09 AM »
Okay, check this out. My child press the stop button. Guess what? Abrupt stop, then complete silence, and total darkness! Nuts. Completely dead. 10 minutes, 5 holding down the alarm button, finally voice contact. Was close, so I opened up the door and was able to get me and my 2 kids out. This was a real bad situation I'm telling you. 1/4 or less battery on my cel. I could at least use that as a light source to calm my kids down. Hope no nightmares tonight!

No nightmare. That's a bonus. I can tell you, what a helpless feeling that experience was. Just image, pitch black, no ceiling exit, 2 toddlers with you and a completely dead elevator. Wow.

Wow dude, that's freakin horrible! That'd give me nightmares, never mind the kids hehe.  ;D One of my big fears besides plane accidents, car crashes etc has been being stuck in an elevator like that, its the thought of just being suspended there feeling isolated like that. Glad your okay man, tough luck that though, dam.

Yeah, my daughter was hesitant, but we rode a few times today. She keeps asking me about the light on or off in the elevator. Poor thing.

Whoa that's crazy haha. I'm sometimes tempted to press the stop button but not anymore. I'm staying clear of that button.

In the Fine Arts building at the college I used to go to, there is only one elevator(there were only two floors), and every music major stops the elevator at the midpoint and signs their name, primary instrument, and the date on the wall of the elevator(Whenever the elevator stops, the doors open). It's done every year at band camp by all the freshmen. I think the earliest dates we could find were 1968.

Hehe, very interesting indeed, I'm a big history geek so anything like that for me is wow. We had a similar thing in my old high school, where the lift (elevator) was to the top floor was the old library made from big soft stone blocks (sandstone, possibly?). In the stone are names and dates from students who attended the school as long back as the mid 1800's, carved into it with whatever objects they used, absolutely fascinating stuff.

That's awesome, man. I'm the same way - history geek. It's pretty strange, though because I absolutely hated history while I was in school. My wife laughs at me all the time; that is, until we go to some historic site. She knows I'm gonna research the place before we go, and then, she hits me up for all the details.

But yeah, that's sweet. You guys have so much history over there, lol. We're still infants, as far as nations go, lol...
