2 painkillers could have killed me on Wednesday, and I had no idea I was allergic to aspirin. They are called co-codamol (sp?), I had a thumping headache so I decided to take something to ease the pain. About 3 hours later I came out in a really itchy rash, and had a really flemmy throat and had difficulty breathing. I was out with a friend at this point, and I told him I felt really, really weak, like an old man or something. He told me to try and climb this tree on the park, because usually I'm a really good climber, but I couldn't even hold my own weight without dropping off exhausted. Concerned I had diabetes or something (because I ate SO much sugary things as a kid) I went to the doctors yesterday. He asked me what I did that day and I told him, so he suspected what it could have been and did an allergy test on me with like 50 different needles which looked really scary, but it didn't hurt. Anyway, he soon determined I was severely allergic to aspirin, he said in these words 'Well, don't take anything with it in again, or it could be your last'. I was pretty horrified to find out I could have just collapsed into an anaphylactic fit without ever knowing I was allergic.
