How important is Halo 3 Single Player to you?

Very important, I will beat every possible setting.
11 (47.8%)
I don't care that much, I will play from the start to finish one time.
10 (43.5%)
It means nothing to me. I likely won't finish the missions and will jump right into the multiplayer.

To the expert players, should N00bs be spending extra time in single player getting their skills together or just jump into multiplayer??

Hmmm, well I hate having noobs playing in multiplayer, so I think they should do single player first, even I do single player first, because I want to know who the story will continue :D

I agree. Noobs should know whats going on to start with. I personally make sure I've beaten each halo on legendary at least 2 or 3 times before i match up with people. There are some wild players on live that will not have mercy on a noobs who just doesn't get it. I show no mercy cause none is shown to me when i stumble across one of those "sure shot snipers".

I actually like the campaign more than multi player. Playing by yourself on legendary, especially with hindering skulls in play make the game incredibly harder and more strategic in sense.

no single player means nothing....multiplayer has human players in it who all think and rationlize differently so its better to go to multiplayer it makes u more adaptable to situations and such

Course it has it's importances. Sure, the story wasn't great, but its downright entertaining to see the grunt's backs pop off when you hit them, or see a scuicidal grunt with two plasmas trip over a rock and blow himself up. Plus its a good way to get your skills up. And who can pass up skulls and terminals. Come one, if you've never beat the game on legendary (at least with a freind), then you can't call yourself a spartan warrior.  ;)

Well I kinda consider myself as a newbie... haven't gamed for 4 years and completed the campaign on easy first to get a general idea. I then went into MM and sucked so decided to play campaign on legendary... it took me a couple of sessions and an average of 20 deads per level but made it... went back to MM and seemed to have improved a lot.

Then BR starts made their intro and I improved again, realizing what a great weapon it really is ( Iavoided the BR like the plague before this).

Now I still feel like a complete failure... I'm a captain grade 3 that doesn't seem to be good enogh to get past skill level 21 even after 664 ranked matches  >:(

It's important for new players to realize the differences between MP and SP in halo.  SP can be a great place for a newb to learn button lay-outs and get comfortable shooting at things.  Though they should note that the weapon physics are different between MP and the campaign.  Also, like GNOM3 mentioned, AI behaves much differently than live players (even H3's drastically improved AI) so don't expect your amazing brute flanking move to translate over to Live.  If you want to improve at MP, then thats where you should practice.
