It is important to balance out the team weaponry. You have to have people on defense and offense, because if you always attack you will always lose and badly.
Weapon Preferences
It is also important to keep in mind that you should give people weapons that they can use effectively. Like don’t put a grenadier on sniper duty that is just stupid. It is also a good idea to flank your enemy base. You don’t just want to come in from one side, two is always better. Of course you can always have a diversion like a person going in the middle to distract the enemy while you come in from the sides. It is okay to run most of the time but when near the enemy base crouch walking is best as it shields you from enemy radar. If you crouch walk you can sneak up on the enemy undetected until you steal their flag. This is why having a good driver who can drive over any terrain with no problem comes in handy. With the flag you are vulnerable so getting on the back of a vehicle is your best bet for survival.
Equipment Preferences
Vehicles are very important as usual. If you have more vehicles than your enemy you have a considerable advantage. The best vehicles for CTF I found were the Warthog Good for attack, the Mongoose good for escape, the Wraith because you can shoot at your enemy though not very accurately from behind a mountain out of harms way, the Hornet very strong but I find overpowered and used commonly by noobs although it does have a tactical advantage with its jump seat parachuting over enemy base. Another and final thing I found was important is to always communicate with your team. You have to absolutely have to plan coordinated attacks like one group attacks from one side gets the enemy attention and then the other group attack from behind and take the flag. Or the look at me I am in the middle tactic where the enemy looks at the distraction and then a flare and shield drainer come from the sides to seal the deal. I hope this is information that anyone can use and it was a pleasure writing this small article about CTF. -- Stas (added January 29, 2009) |
