Okay, Legendpimps is a Halo god, and a cool dude. After a chat last night, he is offering to write an article (or two?) that will help your Halo skills improve. In this quest, he suggested that I ask you guys what it is that is important to know about or learn how to do better. It's wide open! Have fun with it. Seriously though, give it some thought. It's a great opportunity to get some specific gameplay tips from a Halo pro. Also thank him for being such a cool dude!
[edit]
So as an example for a post:
Topic: What should I be thinking about in a FFA game just before it starts?
I know I know, probably not the most excellent topic, but I'm just showing you guys how to you can submit article suggestions. I'm sure you guys have lots of topics or ideas. Let'er rip!

Ok so after a message this thread is more clear than it was before, LegendPimps I think you should write about the best way to improve as a player, you weren't always the pro you are today so I think it would be best if you could post what you did to become the player you are today and what we should do to improve ourselves as players both as a team and individually, you must practice with your team on a daily basis so what do you do to practice when your with them? do you play MLG matchmaking or MLG customs againt other pro's?

I have a couple questions actually so if you could awnser them that would be awesome, and I may have some other questions at a later date so I'll just add them as I think of them.
Ok so here goes, I play alot of halo 3 in my free time and I have alot of free time right now so I'm playing it most of the afternoon but none of the friends that I go into matchmaking with are always on and I don't feel like going in with randoms, if I go in with people I can count on I feel like I learn how to play better as a team, I love playing halo 3 and I wanna get really good at it but it just seems sometimes I am at a stand still when it comes to improving myself, there just seems to be a huge gap that I can't seem to fill in my game, when you practice with your team what do you do? And you have a good BR, do you know where Blackout Bobxxz can go buy a new BR for cheap lol. You think you could post a link to your fileshare with some of your gameplay on it?
Seriously my BR broke a couple weeks ago and I'm looking for a new one. Well I constantly find myself rushing, getting a kill, then dying. Do you know anyway to stop me from rushing and playing more of a support role?

You had a BR? I've never seen it & to stop rushing - just stop rushing lol! Don't worry about it. When I play with you I change the way I play and take up a defensive position to limit my deaths. Maybe what you need to do is to learn when it is ok to rush and when to adapt your play.

well personally for me, before an FFA game starts....try to imagine your first few movements....where you will be heading if you spawn at bottom blue or at elbow....think about weapon times and knowing that you may not make it to camo and sniper....time these weapons according to the first few seconds of gameplay...so that you are there first..when the new camo or sniper comes up....also mauler.... another thing is to ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings....lets say someone dies...and there is a 70 percent change he wont spawn at bottom blue cause you choked the spawns....make sure you know where everyone is at all times.....i play with radar off so it helps to be more aware and to time weapons and always look everywhere. Have a general idea of what you are going to do during the game...think things through during that blackscreen.....most of the times thats how i do well is adjusting to what my plan was beforehand. But then again we also have to modify our gameplan according to the situation that happens before us. Sometimes people think the ogre twitch helps them keep their BR steady, that can also help a novice halo player out....know the map and know the weapons, also know when to back out. Soo many times i have seen people think they can out BR when they have clearly lost....if you KNOW you have lost the battle back out immediately....thats about it....if you have any questions or any other comments let me know.... gnom3 out

I've raced cars, motorcycles, bikes-you name it. In my opinion, thinking is the worst think you can do. What you have to do is REACT. You may be thinking one thing; and then, something else happens which blows your complete mind set. You think Snip3down was thinking about that huge triple he had on The Pit during the Toronto tournament? No. He just reacted to what he was dealt. That is huge. Just my .02 I'd personally like to see him write about how to always keep your self in position for your next move. In other words, always having a way out or 2nd move if your first fails.

Yes having good reactions will help but Halo is all about smarts and being PROACTIVE not reactive. The whole concept of tactics is based around having a plan and being prepared -forcing your opponent to do what you want. If you move to a position of advantage whether that be a high point or out of view it will always give you an advantage. Whilst not easy to get the triple, snipedown was probably part prepared . He's probably been in that situation before and planned for it. If you go through a whole game reacting to opponents then you will lose as chances are you're doing what they expect. You just kinda contradicted yourself saying you need to react and then saying you'd like to see how he keeps himself in position for his next move - becuase he is obviously being proactive here and thinking the game through. I'm not blessed with the greatest individual skill but I've got to a 47 by being smart, knowing when I need to back-off, how to set-up, where to set-up & knowing when it is necessary for me to die to aid my team amongst numerous other things you have to consider.

Ok so i was stupid enough to buy his giude that he never updates and doesn't focus on mlg my question is : can i get a refund for gettin ripped off or will you add some mlg stuff? ? or maybe you could give us some buisness advice, i think the way to do it is promise your customers something then take the money and run?? i guess if i wanted to learn somthing from a "pro" i would want to learn more about the mental game and being one step ahead of your aponent. i can do that fine against most kids but how do you outsmart someone who is better than you and is also a smart player.

ROFL! I was thinking of writing something along those lines. Anyway, I'd like a very detailed explanation of advanced team tactics and setups with some in-game commentary of his team performing these well. Individual skill can only take you so far in this game. You need a good team to succeed

Being in position and planning are two different things. You get INTO position so that you dont have to plan. You just react. Its kind of hard to explain. I know what you are saying, though. Your team can have a plan on setups and positioning and what not. You just cant plan whats going to happen. The only reason I got my 45 was because of all you guys here at haloforever. I would still be a dual-wielding spiker noob if I didnt play with you guys. However, I still think I am better than a 45. I mean, look what me, you, bob and Ash did against all those 50s in team slayer. We had good position and good call-outs; and we won the game. We need to do that more often. I think we can go a long way if we practice more together. Nonetheless, I agree with golfball. That would be nice to know some of their tactics and setups.

If we really wanna play good, I need to warm up my ass off because what usually happens is those nights that i stay up all night and play by myself I always end up being on fire at 3 in the morning just because my BR gets so acurate and I play 10 times smarter than I usually do, 50s are nothing special in reality I think most of us on the forum deserve a 50 just because we play much better than what were ranked at, the only reason we aren't 50s is because we are either rank locked like myself which I plan to get out of one of these days also we play people that are actually really good at this game, now it doesn't help that my hands are freezing over here but that will be fixed soon enough. Overall I think if we want to play better we need to listen to eachother better and just play as a team, make call outs and a big thing I find frustrating is when people don't callout when they have killed someone, you wanna push up when there at least two down but not everyone on your team knows that two or three of them are down and so that when you call out when you have killed people because then your whole team is aware of it and you can make a push together and succesfully, also look at what your teams doing you may not be able to always see them but you can always see that arrow with they're service tag on it, when they are in trouble it changes colour and then thats when you go take a look and try and help them out, they may not make the callout always so you got to point out that they are in trouble, and be sure if your in the area assist them, also stay calm, I may not be always the best person to stay calm but I always remember when I go into matchmaking that I need to be calm or the rest of my team isn't, I have really improved on this since I first started playing halo 3 and the only time I ever get irritated is in custom games sometimes, other than that in matchmaking I try and remember to build up my team, say good job and stuff like that and say we can do this.

Lol you just did it again, you said you get INTO positon. hence getting into a position/being proactive not reactive. Planning and getting into a positon are the same thing lol, I don't mean have a 1000 word written plan. In example knowing that if I move training there's a power drain and from there I can drain green to force their players long hall or training for clean-up. The only time you should need to react is to a team-mates call-out or death. Everything else is about smarts like you just said about us beating a team of 50s. If you react to things chances are you're already a shot down. It's all about getting into a position to get the first shot or team shot. You should always be anticipating things in game.
