pit strategy The Pit Tteam Slayer Strategy:

90% of the time at the pit, when the round starts everyone rushes the rockets and inviz leaving the other side of the map wide open. What I do is creep around the side grab the sniper rifle then the sword. Next get the overshield and make you're way to the enemys tower. If they have a sniper up there already its an easy kill. If not pick off any enemy you see then snake their regenerator and sniper ammo. Take the overshield path back to you're tower and go to work. After you snipe a couple people they WILL start to come after you .Every time one of them makes it all the way to the lift just throw the regenerator down, crouch and wait for the easy sword kill. If executed correctly this single man defense is near impossible to break. Also if the other team is concentrated primarily on you, this lets you're teammates keep control of the rest of the map easily. (contributed by: John B, added May 2, 2008)

the pit The Pit - Strategy Revealed

Legendpimp recently stated on bungie.net a setup for the pit and I think we have all somewhat decent knowledge of map control, so I will start a discussion on map control with a strategy to control The Pit. Yes, I know there are threads on this and they are outdated, so of little use. So I begin:

Let's start with initial rush, two guys rockets, two guys OV. The rockets are the most important weapon for establishing initial map control, but gaining map control can be accomplished without them. The OV is of second importance, two extra layers of shields can be devastating when pushing onto their side. Sniper should be aquired last as it an important weapon but already on your side of the map, and therefore safe for at least 15-30 seconds. Take your time getting to this weapon as it is more important to get the other items secured firstly.

Now after you have established weapon control and have your side under control, you will have two options, play reserved and stay back putting shots on, relying on teamshots and the sniper for your kills to keep the lead or play aggressively, which we will come back to. Setting up for this would best be done with one at empty hall, one at rocket hall, one at training, Sniper on top turret. This strategy is very dependent on communication. The player at empty hall watches that and helps rockets, rockets watch rocket hall and help empty or training. The player at training has to keep his eye on courtyard and sword watching for the inevitable flank. Sneaky Beavers! Anyways, lastly the sniper will watch the training and OV watching for the flank as well.

The second strat I mentioned was a different strat, the aggressive strat - push onto their side to spawn kill and keep them off-balance. This aggressiveness can result in loss of map control if the setup is broken correctly, so be careful. If you don't feel confident in your teamwork yet, avoid this strat. Now, place a player at the shotgun/needler, one green box, one training, sniper at bridge. This setup is reliant mostly on knowledge of the spawn system and can work properly in a TS game if the players on your team are skilled enough. This is also the strat for grabbing flag, minus the guy at bridge, he might snipe from their sword ramp. The Flag guy should pull the flag empty side. The sniper may also choose to snipe from their training. (source: MLG Forums, contributed by: MLGIcon, added April 24, 2008)

1st to get: Rocket Launcher 2nd to get: Sniper Rifle. 3rd to get:Energy Sword. (contributed by Austin, added November 11, 2007)

On the pit when ur on top turret you can shoot through the small crack of the weird lil wall that provides you cover. dont kno how to explain it. (contributed by: chotaadmi, added November 8, 2007)

On The Pit, you can walk along the top edge of the chainlink fence that borders around the sword room. I remember how people used to walk around the outer edge of Ring 2 on Sanctuary(and still do). (contributed by: xMISTERxFISTERx, added November 8, 2007)

On the pit game start, people mostly go to camo from the ramp leading to rocket but instead you can jump directly to the camo. (contributed by: RealSaphis, added November 8, 2007)

(in a follow up comment on the above tip) Yep, in my opinion it's best to grab the BR at the start, run, shoot the barrels your side, jump straight across, bounce a nade down the corridor onto their barrels and then throw another as you grab Camo. If you aren't playing someone doing the exact same thing, you'll end up with invisibility and they'll end up with a face full of explosions within the first 5 seconds. Pro Tip - Try to get at least two of your team members to rush for rockets. Rockets are important on that map as well as snipers. One rush for snipes, two for rockets, and the third person for camo. (contributed by: Victor "Lil Poison" De Leon III)

The Pit is a great map for the sword. If you can get the sword crouch down (this takes you off the radar) and hide in the same hallway the sword is found. You will be amazed and how many people come through that area! (contributed by: lonman06)
